Scripting
English below image
Liner Notes(千代子黎人) Thank you for playing the game. I handled scripting for the main scenario. My first reaction to hearing about the project was...
Wait, I get to script eroscenes for Nitro+?! And what do you mean, eroscenes that are as elaborate as battle scenes? Are you serious?! Also like, I haven't scripted an eroscene for Nitro+ since Gekkou no Carnevale, am I really the man for the job?! DRAMAtical Murder re:code wasn't an eroge, after all... But moreover, on Tokyo Necro I did nothing but battle scenes, and now you're telling me that I'm getting almost nothing but eroscenes? From one extreme to another, am I right?! The funniest thing is that the content itself isn't much different, just the context!

Nude corpses and shirtless guys→Nude heroines
Cacophonous gunfire→The heroines moaning
White flashes for guns firing→White flashes for the protagonist cumming (mostly)

It took me a while to come to terms with it all.

I tried to script things such that the mindwords(*1) that I figured Shimokura was the most invested in got the most emphasis. It was always satisfying when my predictions were correct and scripts went through without needing a retake.(*2)
*1: The development team's internal name for the words that show up when Suteru is using his wordsight.
*2: That is, when Shimokura and Ogami didn't ask me to revise anything during their passes.
That's not to say I never had to redo anything. But they were always real polite with the phrasing when telling me how I misconstrued their vision.

For example, they'd ask me to adjust the timing of the white flashes, saying stuff like "It's a little too fast" or "It just doesn't feel exciting enough," and I'd just throw up my hands and be like "That is way too abstract for me to do anything with!" Of course, they were probably just as bemused when I told them that I didn't really "get" what it means to fap in the abstract sense, so uh, sorry...

Never once have I scripted an eroscene being confident that I have the right answer. I'm always questioning if I'm on the right track, if the players are really going to find this fappable...

Whenever I'd do a retake and it ended up feeling less like an eroscene, I fell into a deep despair. It seems I still have much room to improve.

I have some other development anecdotes, like when I ran out of chocolate and ran to a nearby supermarket to buy it during lunch break, only to bump into another employee, or all the times I burst out singing about how I was gonna lose my mind (to the tune of a jingle advertising chocolate), but mostly I'm just glad it's over.

Also, working on Mojika at the same time as Slow Damage had me pretty confused about what I was doing at times. You know that scene at the festival where Hachiya reaches for Suteru's waist? Came across as a seme and an uke for me. The line "Stop squirmin' around," like seriously? But right, he just wants the remote control in Suteru's pocket. Hachiya's not gay, he's bi. (Wait, what?)
Basically, the scripting conventions between BL games and bishojo games are different. Gotta keep them separate, is the lesson here.

There was also that time Ogami suddenly looked over and asked me why Konsei bent to the left, and it took just about all the willpower I had to refrain from screaming "Hell if I know!" I went with the old standard "That's a good question..." instead. Like, why are you asking me? Maybe it was a subtle way of telling me that I should have scripted things to make it look straight? You can't very well have a god bending to the left, after all. Thing is, I asked Shimokura the same question later, and it took him no more than 0.05 seconds to respond with "Hell if I know!" So like, why did I bother expending all that willpower? Anyway, Ogami ended up adjusting things so it looked straight. We call that being a model boss. Our company is as white as it gets.

I gave the Shichosei―that's our codename for the bonus content―a try (we call this debugging, I suppose), but Miyu's fish kanji were just too much. And that was just the first stage! It felt wrong to use Tamasa right off the bat, but I swallowed my pride and went for it... only to lose anyway. Also, the final stage is clearly Saya, but that didn't really give me any hints as to what to enter. Couldn't beat it either. Oh, and learning that Konsei was played by Toho Juppun made something click for me. I remember a certain someone sitting next to me being very excited about making a congratulations message for the players. And once I saw it, yeah, it all made sense. Really made me realize how wild (in a good way) our work environment is. That's something we've gotta cherish.

I hope you enjoyed the game.
