Miura Manabu
It's me again.
Everyone's favorite sales assistant who cannot sing and dance, Miura.
As thanks for finishing the game, I present you with a wall of nonsense.
The months and days are the travelers of eternity. The years that come and go are also voyagers.
(from Oku no Hosomichi by Basho Matsuo / translation by Donald Keene)
The passage of time is ever such a vexing thing. Since the release of Tokyo Necro two years ago, the market has seen more change than ever before.
I dismount from my horse and I offer you wine,
And I ask you where you are going and why.
And you answer: "I am discontent
And would rest at the foot of the southern mountain.
So give me leave and ask me no questions.
White clouds pass there without end."
(At Parting by Wang Wei / translation by Witter Bynner)
While I have experienced many partings in my time, it is not until these last two years that the waves of changed which have so rocked other industries (such as music and print) have finally reached our own PC game industry.
It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.
(quote falsely attributed to Charles Darwin)
It's become apparent that entertainment is consumed differently now―and, to be blunt, that business models must change in turn. Until very recently, many customers would opt to buy physical versions of games for a sort of peace of mind―after all, you can't sell a used copy of a digital purchase. Ultimately, though, convenience has won out, with digital sales becoming more and more popular, especially in the console market.
And so, we here at Nitro+ decided to produce a "digital deluxe edition" for the first time with Mojika.
While we have no intention of abandoning the physical, we must embrace the digital as well.
Call it one small step for the sales guy, but one giant leap for Nitro+.
I guess.
While Mojika provides a very different experience from Totono and Tokyo Necro, it is every bit as provocative and exciting.
I sincerely hope you will enjoy it.
Thank you for your purchase.
